Donna Edwards Running for Senate from Maryland (and Maybe a Little Bit of Virginia)

The politician's campaign logo includes map of Maryland — with a sliver of Virginia in it.

Donna F. Edwards announced on Monday that she wants to represent Maryland in the U.S. Senate — although, according to her campaign logo, she might also be eying a sliver of Virginia.

Edwards’s navy and gold campaign logo includes a map of Maryland that extends the state’s Eastern Shore much farther south than its traditional border, seizing part of the Commonwealth. The odd-shaped state quickly caught the attention of some eagle-eyed politicos in Annapolis.

Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. (D-Calvert) pointed out the error during his chamber’s Monday morning session, which was attended by Edwards’s rival in the race — Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.). Miller chuckled as he described the map, although noted that it’s “a unique mistake that campaign people make all the time.”

Edwards’s campaign staff quickly corrected the mistake on Monday morning — and tried to laugh it off.
