The Grease Man

grease.jpgIt has come to this: People griping that thieves are stealing leftover French fry grease from the back of San Francisco restaurants. Turns out, there's gold in that fleck-filled goop. Biofuel brewers, as the AP dubs them in a story, are making a pretty penny from the used cooking grease. It's used to power diesel engines.

One grease hauler says it's like a war zone out there. The head of San Francisco's new waste cooking oil collection program advises businesses to "lock down every trash can."

So be careful out there, grease collectors.
