You read it here first: Kay Bailey Hutchison is running for president. The wildly popular senior U.S. senator from Texas, in deciding not to challenge fellow Republican Gov. Rick Perry in '06, is perfectly positioning herself for a run at the Washington job now held by a fellow Texan. Americans wouldn't elect two Texans in a row--or a woman--to the presidency? If you believe that, you don't think they would elect a movie actor, a Roman Catholic, two distantly related guys named Roosevelt, or two sons of former presidents. Dare we speculate on a Hutchison-Clinton smackdown three years hence?
