definition, a blog about state and local government really has no place talking about religion. And a blog about state and local government in the United States has even less reason to discuss the Church of England.
Still. This news from the Church of England is pretty interesting. Two senior church Bishops are urging Christians to
give up carbon for Lent:
This year [churchgoers] will be asked to think about their own carbon footprint and follow a few simple steps designed to help cut CO2 emissions. They include:
* avoiding plastic bags
* giving the dishwasher a day off
* insulating the hot water tank
* checking the house for drafts with a ribbon and buying draught excluders
Obviously, climate change has become a
huge issue for local governments here. It would be interesting to see the effects if eco-mindedness were to become a religious issue as well.
