Two bears in Richmond were killed by health officials and tested for rabies after biting a four-year-old boy who got too close to them at a 100-acre property. Richmond Mayor L. Douglas Wilder is outraged that the bears were tossed into a landfill and wants them to get them a better burial:
"I'm going to ask that they be exhumed so they can be memorialized more appropriately."
Burials (bearials?) for rabid dead bears might not be the best use of taxpayer money, but the bears' families will certainly be happy.
