And now, former Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle is planning to move to Illinois to serve as chief operating officer in Gov. Bruce Rauner’s administration.

Rauner announced the appointment Thursday — calling the trailblazing Hawaiian “a superstar governor” who will help him bring about the “biggest turnaround in America today.”

Lingle is the highest-profile member of the “turnaround team” Rauner announced Thursday. The team also includes newly named chief financial officer Donna Arduin and incoming Deputy Gov. Trey Childress. Lingle was named senior adviser, but will become COO when she officially joins the administration in the spring.
