Despite hearing resistance from the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce and other business groups, the council by voice vote approved a bill aimed at strengthening transparency of future economic development deals.
Under the ordinance, dubbed the “Do better” bill by supporters, companies applying for incentives in Nashville will be required to disclose how many county residents they plan to hire, anticipated wages, whether they had any safety violations, among other workforce details.
Information will have to be disclosed prior to the council voting on deals.
