Ralph Becker is the mayor of Salt Lake City. He was elected to his first term in 2008. A Democrat, he is a former minority leader of the Utah House of Representatives.
Becker served as Utah state planning coordinator under Gov. Scott Matheson before launching a Salt-Lake City-based consulting firm specializing in community planning, environmental assessment, public lands use and public involvement.
Becker earned a master's degree in planning and a law degree from the University of Utah after completing undergraduate work at the University of Pennsylvania in 1973.
