Andrew Young is The Governance Lab's associate director of research and the network coordinator for the MacArthur Foundation Research Network on Opening Governance. Before arriving at the GovLab, Young worked with Chief of Research Stefaan Verhulst at the Markle Foundation, where his research centered on the use of technology to bolster economic security.

Young earned his master’s degree from New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development, with a focus on technology and society. In addition to open governance, his research interests include privacy, Internet activism, values in design and the ethical implications of the use of new technologies in politics.
