Tulsa businessman Kevin Stitt has won the Republican nomination for governor.

Stitt, a political newcomer, handily defeated former Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett during Tuesday's primary runoff.

The Associated Press called the race for the Tulsa mortgage company owner just after 8:30 p.m. after he took a commanding early lead over former Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett in the runoff race.
