Jon Mitchell

Jon Mitchell has been mayor of New Bedford, Mass., since January 2012. Earlier in his career, he served as a federal prosecutor in Washington, D.C., prosecuting both violent-crime cases in the District of Columbia and major white-collar-crime cases across the country, and as assistant U.S. attorney in Boston, prosecuting cases involving white-collar crime, firearms, narcotics, environmental crime and public corruption.

Mitchell graduated from Harvard University with a degree in economics and received his law degree from George Washington University. He served six years in the Army National Guard.
