Richard G. Frank

Richard G. Frank is the Margaret T. Morris Professor of Health Economics at the Harvard Medical School. He has held a number of positions at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, most recently serving from 2014 to 2016 as assistant secretary for planning and evaluation.

Frank's research is focused on the economics of mental health and substance abuse care, long term care financing policy, health care competition, implementation of health care reform and disability policy. He was editor of the Journal of Health Economics from 2005 to 2014 and is the co-author, with Sherry A. Glied, of the 2008 book Better but Not Well. He received his Ph.D. in economics from Boston University.
