Phineas Baxandall

Phineas Baxandall directs the tax and budget program for the U.S. Public Interest Research Group. He previously worked at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he assisted in directing the Taubman Center for State and Local Government as well as the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston.

Before coming to the Kennedy School, Baxandall worked for the research department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston. He also taught political economy for eight years at Harvard and in 1990-91 taught economics and organizational behavior at the University of Budapest.

Baxandall received his doctorate in political science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2000.
