Karen Stout has served since 2015 as president and CEO at Achieving the Dream, where she leads the nonprofit's work to support its national network of community colleges. From 2001 to 2015, she was president of Montgomery County Community College in Pennsylvania. She also served as president of the Pennsylvania Commission for Community Colleges.

Stout holds a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Delaware, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Baltimore and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Delaware.
