B.J. Walker

B.J. Walker is a director in Deloitte's public-sector practice and has over 30 years of experience working directly in education and human services. Before coming to Deloitte, she worked for Franklin Covey in its 4 Disciplines of Execution practice and as a senior fellow with the Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Walker, who was Georgia's commissioner of human services between 2004 and 2011, also served in an Illinois gubernatorial administration and in the administration of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. In addition, she served as research associate, director of urban education and deputy director at one of the U.S. Department of Education's Regional Educational Laboratories, where she co-authored a number of education publications, advised states on policy and co-produced several PBS video conferences promoting school reform and reading improvement.
