Emergency Room Wait Times: State Averages

In 2014, emergency room wait times averaged between 16 minutes for hospitals in Colorado and Utah to 46 minutes for Maryland emergency departments.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services tracks the time it takes for patients to be seen by a healthcare professional and publishes averages for states. The 2014 national average was 24 minutes.
