Governing Data Relaunches With New Look

Looking for data? Check out the new and improved Governing Data site.

If you happened to browse any of the data sets on Governing Data over the past week, you probably noticed some changes.

The site got a major facelift, with more data tools added, categorized by major topic areas. Governing Data currently houses more than 40 databases, maps and other visualizations.

To find a particular data set, start by browsing to a relevant category page, accessible from the dropdown menu near the top of the main page. Once you’ve located the data, you’ll also find related stories and blog posts.

Some of the more popular data sets posted so far include:

We encourage you to use the data sets, most of which were obtained from public agencies, on your own websites or in reports. Some visualizations list a series of icons below. Clicking these will allow you to save an image, PDF or share the content online.

Because the site is still in the early stages, it’s likely that a data set you may be interested in hasn’t been posted. I’ll be adding more throughout the year, so expect the site to quickly grow.

Feel free to send any ideas or suggestions via e-mail or using the comments box on the main Governing Data page.
