More than 600 miles from La Porte, Ind., she started to grow concerned about the financial situation in her hometown. So Milo did a decidedly old-fashioned thing: She started writing editorials in the local newspaper.
Eventually, Milo's ideas started to catch on, and she was asked to run for mayor in 2011. She won. Four years later, she was re-elected.
