With TX Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson out of the race for governor of the Lone Star State, it looks like we're going to see a GOP primary fight between current Gov. Rick Perry and State Comptroller Carole Keeton Strayhorn, who announced her candidacy last Saturday.

Such a race would be a tricky balancing act for the White House, though. Perry was, of course, the Lieutenant Governor under George W. Bush.  And current White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan is the son of...Carole Keeton Strayhorn. For now, the White House plans to stay out of it, and Scott---who has worked for Strayhorn during three of her previous campaigns---says he has no plans to leave his job to help his mom.
