Vermont Governor on Guns: Against Stricter State Laws But For Stricter Federal Laws

Gov. Peter Shumlin remained steadfast in his opposition to Vermont enacting stricter gun control laws in the wake of the shooting Sunday morning at an Orlando, Florida, night club that left 49 people dead.

Gov. Peter Shumlin remained steadfast in his opposition to Vermont enacting stricter gun control laws in the wake of the shooting Sunday morning at an Orlando, Florida, night club that left 49 people dead.

 

Shumlin said state laws do little to stem the supply of guns, because the next state over could make it easier to get weapons.

 

"The tragic events that are happening are happening in states with very very tough gun control laws," Shumlin said. "This just shows they are ineffective, you have to have a 50 state solution."
