Proving that Iowa and South Dakota don't have a lock on gimmicky tourism ploys, Fairfax County, VA, is announcing plans to bury a car.

According to DCist, the Northern Virginia county is kicking off a summer "treasure hunt" by "burying" an Infinity FX. Tourists, I guess, will be drawn to the county by the desire to find the car?

Clearly, Fairfax Co. has thrown down the tourism gauntlet -- what other county will meet the challenge?  Will Cook County bury a house??

Or maybe Tampa, Fl, could hold a baby kitten hostage until you buy enough day-passes to Busch Gardens?

What if King County, WA, buries a whole family alive, and the only way to save them is to visit Seattle and buying a bunch of Go Seattle(TM) Cards??
