But the Washington Post has an interesting story about the booming 'burbs and their effect on Christmas tree farms.

Here's the gist: New suburbs = more people in an area. More people = higher demand for Christmas trees.

But 'burbs can boom in just a couple years, while Christmas trees take 10 years to grow tall enough to sell.

The availability of cut-your-own Christmas tree farms isn't really a major urban planning issue, obviously. But it's always interesting to see the unexpected consequences of new urban growth.
