CBGB, the legendary punk-rock venue in New York City, could face eviction as early as tomorrow. The 32-year-old music landmark is in danger of losing its lease at midnight tonight.
But the club got a boost yesterday from Mayor Michael Bloomberg, known on the Lower East Side as the King of Punk Rock. Seriously, though, Bloomberg gave a plug for the Save CBGB campaign, holding up a t-shirt for the cause. He says he'll try to broker negotiations between the club and its landlord.
"It's more than just a club," Bloomberg says. "It's part of our culture."
Rock on!
