After sorting through thousands of "What exit?" jokes and lines from the Sopranos, my home state's hapless search for a new slogan is nearly done. The field has been narrowed to five:

1. New Jersey, Expect the Unexpected

2. New Jersey, Love at First Sight

3. New Jersey, Come See For Yourself

4. New Jersey, The Real Deal

5. New Jersey, The Best Kept Secret

Can't say I much like any of these, especially Numbers 1, 3 and 5, all of which seem to say: Look, New Jersey doesn't suck as much as you thought it did! Love at First Sight seems wrong, too. The first thing most people driving or flying into New Jersey see is chemical plants and swamps. I guess that leaves us with The Real Deal, which says "Jersey" to me more than any of the others. Especially if you imagine Tony Soprano mouthing it.

You can vote here, but if you don't reside within the best kept secret, I doubt Acting-Guv Codey will count your ballot.
