That's newsworthy on a local level, but what's innovative nationally is this: Citizens don't have to own a laptop computer to take advantage of the service. A laptop-loan program allows MDPLS cardholders to borrow a computer at one of 40 branches for up to one hour and tote it anywhere in the building. First, Starbucks in the stacks; now, wi-fi flexibility for all. How much hipper can libraries get?
