A Minnesota state senator had introduced a bill to push back bars' closing times-- from 2 a.m. to 4 a.m. -- during the convention.
But the bill lasted all of eight hours before it was taken off the table. The original sponsor withdrew it after the measure received mixed reactions among conventioneers and police officials.
Incidentally, Democrats will face the same closing time when they head to Denver for their convention.
Somehow, I think both parties will survive.
