"I admitted to the error," Richardson told the Indianapolis Star. "There was nothing malicious about it. It just happened."
To make things right, she put her opponent's name on the next batch of ballots. But -- oops -- that knocked off the name of another Democrat who was running for the county council.
"I went to vote for myself and realized my name wasn't on the ballot," said Robert D. Threlkeld.
That's frustrating.
Richardson is a 14-year incumbent, and Hamilton County is solid Republican territory. That's why she will win, and why it probably was an honest mistake. She doesn't need to cheat to win.
And yet, does anyone believe her proofreading would have been so careless if her own name had gone missing?
