Andrew Sullivan posts a "view from your window" photograph sent in by readers every day. Yesterday, he featured this shot of Daily City, California, where I grew up.
I would say that this is Ocean Grove Avenue, just as it meets Southgate Drive. I might be off by one block or so. But I think that green house on the right is where a high school friend of mine named Leti Turnbull lived.
Apparently, yesterday was an unusually sunny day in Daly City, which is deep in the fog belt that runs along the coast.
Daly City lies just south of San Francisco and was the inspiration for the Malvina Reynolds/Pete Seeger song "Little Boxes" and was also featured in Life magazine in the 1950s as a classic postwar suburb (see below). Take that, Levittown.
