Colo. Supreme Court Approves Democratic-Drawn Maps

The maps would make 38 of 100 legislative seats competitive, with 24 in the 65-member House and 14 in the 35-member Senate.

After agreeing with Republicans earlier this year that Democratic-drawn redistricting maps split too many counties, Colorado's highest court approved an updated version of those maps today, reports the Denver Post.

The new legislative maps, which still have to be filed with the Colorado Secretary of State, would make 38 of 100 legislative seats competitive -- 24 in the House and 14 in the Senate.

Although the court reversed its decision, GOP lawmakers did not. They still argue that the maps split too many municipalities and were drawn up without Republicans' input.

The original maps received bipartisan approval.
