kip-holden-3.gif With the U.S. Conference of Mayors in town, we were just treated to an interesting visit from Melvin "Kip" Holden, the mayor-president of Baton Rouge. Holden had a lot to say about how the city has adjusted to its 100,000-strong population explosion following Hurricane Katrina.

For now, we're content just to let him quote himself about the celebration for LSU's national football championship. Addressing a crowd of about 25,000 who had gathered in the winter weather, Holden said, "I went from a soul brother to a cold brother to a fudgesicle."
