Bratton Gets Down to Brass Tacks

chief-photo.jpg Los Angeles is 50 percent bigger in area than New York City, but LA has only half the cops. That means they spend most of their time in cars rather than patrolling on foot.

In an interview with the Christian Science Monitor , LAPD Chief William Bratton talks about that and all the other ways in which policing LA is different from any other city in the country. Bratton, of course, also served as police chief in New York and in Boston. Last month, he was unanimously approved for a second five-year term heading up LA's troubled police department.
