10 Shot in Syracuse, N.Y., Over Holiday Weekend

Gunfire began just after 10 p.m. on Saturday.

Syracuse police said 10 people were shot in less than 24 hours over Fourth of July weekend and a teenager hit by gunfire early Monday has died.

The person has been identified as 19-year-old Rayquell Jones, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said they have no suspects.

Police said the violence began just after 10 p.m. Saturday when someone opened fire on a crowd watching Fourth of July fireworks and four people were struck by bullets. By Sunday afternoon, another six people had been shot. One shooting scene was in the same area on the southwest side of the city where police responded early Monday.

Police tape was hung in front of every home on the block where the last person was struck.
