State spending per person reveals common priorities across borders as well as notable outliers.  Education, public assistance, insurance trusts, government administration and highways consume the majority of taxpayer funds.  Debt servicing and health account for relatively low proportions of the total but are expected to grow to potentially unsustainable levels in the coming decades.
