Drucker Playbook: Leadership Training for the Public Sector

February 24
11AM PT, 2PM ET
Duration: 60 minutes

The key to every successful public agency is in the talent and training of the employees who serve the public. No matter their function or organizational structure, state and local agencies are continuously striving to recruit, train and retain top talent. With budget cuts affecting professional development line items first, alternative methods to provide leadership training onsite and online are essential.

The Drucker Institute, a social enterprise based at Claremont Graduate University, has developed a program to provide critical training to current and future supervisors and managers in the public sector. Successfully piloted in innovative organizations through live sessions in South Bend, Indiana, and online workshops for officials in Louisville, Kentucky, and Memphis, Tennessee, the Drucker Institute is now offering the Drucker Playbook for the Public Sector to organizations across the country.

Join Governing and our expert speakers for a webinar on the timeless wisdom from the Drucker Institute, now available in 12 Playbook workshops. This webinar features city leaders, a human resource expert and a Drucker Institute senior manager who will explain how to leverage limited resources to move from ideas to action to results.
The speakers will discuss training that will benefit both the agency and individual employees. The webinar speakers will:
- Detail the importance of leadership in today’s public agencies
- Describe how the training provides government employees with tools for individual and team effectiveness
- Review how leadership practices in four key areas—vision, management, performance and character—are taught
- Discuss evidence that the training inspires employees to advance in their public service careers while providing excellent service to their constituents
