Alleged Murder Plot Targeted Arlington, Texas, Mayor

Officials say a Texas mayor and an attorney were targeted by an alleged murder-for-hire plot that federal authorities say was orchestrated by the owner of a topless club embroiled in a dispute with the city.

Officials say a Texas mayor and an attorney were targeted by an alleged murder-for-hire plot that federal authorities say was orchestrated by the owner of a topless club embroiled in a dispute with the city.

A statement from the city of Arlington says FBI agents thwarted the plot against Mayor Robert Cluck and attorney Tom Brandt.

FBI agents arrested club co-owner Ryan Walker Grant on Monday. An affidavit says he asked an unidentified informant to arrange the killings. Online court records don't list an attorney for Grant.

Arlington has been working to revoke Grant's license to operate a sexually oriented business.

A call to Cluck's office Wednesday wasn't immediately returned. Brandt is a Dallas attorney working for the city and says he's been advised by the FBI not to comment.
