Christie Backers Moving Over to Team Jeb Bush

Three members of the New Jersey governor's transition team are backing the former Florida chief executive for president.

Three members of Governor Christie’s transition team — including a longtime friend and his campaign fundraiser — are backing former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for the Republican presidential nomination.

State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, who served as chairman of Christie’s 2009 campaign, donated $10,000 to Bush’s political action committee last month, a Bush spokesman told The Washington Post on Monday. And Gail Gordon, who raised money for Christie’s 2009 and 2013 campaigns, said Monday night that she was also backing Bush over New Jersey’s governor.

Bush has yet to formally enter the race but has been aggressively fundraising and seeking support in key states. Both Christie, who is publicly considering a run, and Bush were in New Hampshire last week for a series of events in the run-up to a two-day state GOP summit, which brought 19 declared and potential presidential candidates to the first-in-the-nation primary state.

Gordon, the wife of Democratic state Sen. Bob Gordon and a Christie nominee to the New Jersey Hall of Fame board of directors, attended a Jan. 8 soiree for Bush at the Union League Club in New York.

Gordon contributed $1,000 to Bush at that event and said she planned to donate an additional $4,000.
