Chris Christie Promises Not to Run as Third-Party Candidate

The New Jersey governor has signed the GOP pledge to support the party's nominee.

Governor Christie went on Fox News Thursday morning and signed the Republican National Committee’s pledge, agreeing to back whoever wins the GOP presidential nomination next year and taking shots at frontrunner Donald Trump, who also agreed to the pledge yesterday.

Christie, who an hour earlier declined to sign the pledge on CNN’s “New Day,” said there should be a “sore loser rule.”

“If you run you can’t be a sore loser and then run as an independent if you don’t win the nomination,” Christie said on “America’s Newsroom.” “So I have no problem with it, I obviously will sign the pledge.”

At the end of the segment, Fox News presented Christie with the pledge and he signed it on camera while mocking Trump for meeting with RNC chairman Reince Priebus Thursday afternoon before signing the pledge.
