U.S. District Judge Tanya Walton Pratt made permanent Tuesday a preliminary injunction that halted implementation of the 2011 law.
The judge’s action came one day after the filing of an agreement between the state and Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky that acknowledged the state cannot violate Medicaid’s “freedom of choice” provision.
The settlement strikes down key provisions of a 2011 law that, at the time, made Indiana the first state in the nation to bar Planned Parenthood from receiving federal money because it offers abortions.
