Arkansas Ballot Measure Would Ban Discrimination Based on Sexual Orientation

Attorney General Leslie Rutledge on Tuesday certified the wording of a proposed initiated act that would amend the Arkansas Civil Rights Act of 1993 to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, if approved by voters.

Attorney General Leslie Rutledge on Tuesday certified the wording of a proposed initiated act that would amend the Arkansas Civil Rights Act of 1993 to prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity, if approved by voters.

 

The certification of the proposal’s popular name and ballot title clears the way for the sponsor, Trey Weir III, to begin collecting signatures to secure a spot on the November 2016 general election ballot.
