New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez on Thursday ended her neutral stance on the contest for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination by endorsing Marco Rubio.

Martinez, chairwoman of the Republican Governors Association, will join the Florida senator on the campaign trail Friday in Kansas and is scheduled to speak Saturday at a Rubio rally in Jacksonville, Fla.

Whether the nation’s first Latina governor could help Rubio with Hispanic voters in the March 15 primary in his home state is an open question. The delegate-rich state is seen as a make-or-break stand for the Cuban-American politician. And with a “winner-take-all” primary, it could slow the momentum of front-runner Donald Trump. However, the Real Clear Politics website says the billionaire real estate developer has a commanding lead in polls there.
