Macomb County, Mich., Struggles to Recruit IT Talent

County officials are expecting a retirement surge that will lead to a shortage of tech workers.

In Michigan's Macomb County, CIO Sandy Jurek says officials are finding it difficult to recruit talent who can embrace disruptive technologies.

Jurek, who spoke with Government Technology at the 2015 Michigan Digital Government Summit in Lansing, said the county is also working on handling big data and data storage given the increase in police body cams, and filling an upcoming potential IT workforce shortage.
