Japanese Manhole Covers

In Japan, manhole covers have been elevated to an art. Nearly 95 percent of Japanese municipalities have designed their own custom sewer covers, according to Remo Camerota, a photographer and the author of "Drainspotting," a book that catalogs the unique art form. This cover is from the town of Matsumoto. Photo by jpellgen/Flickr CC.
