Are Intelligent Automation & Blockchain Poised to Disrupt HHS?

This new research strategy paper examines how state and local health and human services agencies are approaching a pair of emerging technologies: Intelligent automation and blockchain. Based on a national survey and a series of in-depth discussion workshops, the paper reports that HHS officials see a range of practical applications for these technologies which could improve eligibility decisions, facilitate secure data sharing and reduce fraud. It also identifies potential concerns as agencies consider putting intelligent automation and blockchain into wider use.
