The Metropolitan Policy Program at the Brookings Institution and the Battelle Technology Partnership gathered data measuring the growth of “clean” or green jobs throughout the U.S for their groundbreaking report.
The team compiled totals of workers producing goods and services benefiting the environment by reviewing industry organizations, patents, grant recipients and numerous other sources (view the methodology). In all, they counted 2.7 million Americans as part of the “clean tech economy.”
A story in the December issue of Governing explores the growth of these jobs, particularly in the South.
