Alabama may be a long way from Hollywood, but the state is successfully positioning itself to be more attractive for film production companies, the Birmingham News reports.

Entertainment Partners, based in Los Angeles, opened its first office in the state on Wednesday, the News reports. Alabama has recently established an entertainment industry worker training program and outfitted a tractor trailer with all the production equipment that a film crew could need.

Marco Cordova, director of production at Entertainment Partners, told the News that Alabama has a bright future as a destination for film productions. The state also has an advantage that can't be found in the hills of southern California.

"The Southern hospitality is so great," Cordova said. "It is real."
