Vermonters Tweet for Tourism

Using a unique approach to attract tourists this season, Vermont is allowing residents to tweet about their daily lives via the state Department of Tourism and Marketing's Twitter account, THISISVT, reports the Associated Press. Each week, a different resident takes over the account and offers a personal glimpse into life in The Green Mountain State. To keep any controversial commentary off the feed, the state is vetting those who apply by asking them for their personal Twitter handle, why they want to participate, and for a general range of topics they would tweet about. The program is only in its second week and already more than 50 Vermonters have applied to have a week at the helm.
