Free Trolley Rides Shuttle Scottsdale Tourists from Hotels and Back

Though seeing and hearing the sights and sounds of a city are essential for tourists, trouble-free transport isn’t always so easy to come by. Scottsdale, Ariz., is initiating a pilot program offering tourists free transportation to the city’s restaurants, entertainment venues and shopping centers, the Arizona Republic reports. Donned the “Hospitality Route,” the 90-day pilot will add onto the city’s already existing trolley system by shuttling tourists from resorts and hotels to downtown Scottsdale, and back. The new route will be free for riders and run every day until midnight – a good deal later than any of the trolley system’s three existing routes. Using funds from hotel bed-tax revenue, the city will pay for half of the new route’s $180,000 price tag and have sponsors fund the remaining $90,000. Sponsors of the pilot may influence the selection of destinations along the route and place logos or ads on the trolleys.
