By 2030, the number people in the U.S. over 65 will double -- from 35 million to 71.5 million. To prepare local leaders interested in making their communities livable for the impending silver boom, Partners for Livable Communities, the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging and other organizations have created a comprehensive, downloadable toolkit and a series of regional workshops. Developing Livable Communities for All Ages: A Blueprint for Action provides practitioners with tools, resources and best practices in specific areas, including housing, land use planning, supportive services and transportation. It also offers a six-step strategy on how to build the partnerships needed. The first three regional workshops will be held in Tampa Bay, Phoenix and Kansas City.
