State and local officials looking for ways to make the legislative process more transparent might find a new experiment from the private sector interesting. A new Web site,, is encouraging citizens to "vote" on every piece of legislation being considered by Congress. Participants can register for free, browse current legislation being deliberated, select a bill, vote and even leave comments. The site provides participants with current results immediately after they submit their vote for any bill, resolution or amendment. The final results are sent to every member of Congress and the president before a final vote. keeps track of a members' votes, and will soon add a function that posts elected officials' votes alongside participants' votes for comparison.
