One year and 131,500 hits later, ACCESS NYC, an online eligibility screening tool for human services, has expanded its offerings. New York City has added seven new programs to a tool that already identifies and screens eligibility for 35 city, state and federal human service benefit programs. The new offerings include five workforce development programs that provide job placement, skills training and career advice, among other services. The city's Center for Economic Opportunity is also creating an outreach team to provide training in how to use the ACCESS NYC tool. Launched last year to help working families anonymously learn what benefits may be available to them, ACCESS NYC also lets residents complete and print application forms online, obtain lists of documentss necessary for a program and create an account to access their information later. ACCESS NYC is similar to the federal tool, GovBenefits.gov, which also helps visitors locate what government benefits they are entitled to. To learn more, click here.
